Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge a fee to plan my trip?
For most trips, we earn from our hospitality partners — there's no out-of-pocket cost to you. For complex itineraries (multi-country, custom routing, group coordination), a modest planning fee may apply, which can often be credited toward your travel costs.
How is working with you different from booking online?
Three ways. First, access — Virtuoso opens doors to rates, suites, and experiences you can't book on a public site. Second, perks — complimentary breakfast, resort credits, and upgrades worth $400+ per stay. Third, advocacy — when something goes wrong, you call us, not a 1-800 number.
How far in advance should I plan?
For peak-season travel (summer Europe, holidays, school breaks): 6-9 months. For shoulder season: 3-6 months. For African safaris and small-ship cruises: 9-12+ months. We can also accommodate last-minute travel — call us anytime.
What does the planning process look like?
A 30-minute discovery call to understand what you're looking for. Within a few days you'll receive a customized proposal with options. We refine until it's right, then handle every booking, confirmation, and detail through your return home.
Do you handle business travel too?
Yes — we work with executives, growing companies, and teams of all sizes. See our Corporate Travel page for the full scope.
What happens if my flight is cancelled or delayed?
You text or call us. We're available 24/7 for in-trip emergencies. We rebook flights, hold hotel rooms, and handle the back-and-forth so you don't lose hours on hold with airlines.
